Appetizers & Snacks

It is so funny how much I’ve changed since I came to Australia. There are so many things that I didn’t use to eat back home just because they weren’t part of my culture. Guacamole was one of them. I couldn’t understand how to use avocado to make something savoury,  because most of the time back home we used avocado to make smoothies – mashing them, and adding milk powder and sugar.

These days I ask myself how I spent so long without eating such a good thing, it’s just a shame that avocado here is not as cheap and as big as in Brazil.

  • 1 avocado
  • 30g red onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, unseeded and chopped
  • juice of ½ lime
  • salt to taste
  • cumin to taste
  • 5-10g coriander, chopped

  1. Mix the red onion, tomato, salt, cumin and coriander.
  2. Split the avocado in the middle and mash half of it. Cut the other half cut in little cubes.
  3. Put the avocado together with the onion mixture and add the lemon juice.
